Key To My Heart Pillow

First and foremost I need to introduce you to my Assistant Smokey, without whom this project would have taken half the time!

I have been soooooo inspired by the things I have been seeing the last few days on everyones blogs and Pinterest posts! I wanted to do something for Valentines Day (I still haven't gotten my house decorated) and I knew I wanted to use my Cameo, this is what I came up with, I hope you like it, I LOVE the way it turned out!!!! I have seen so many beautiful pillows lately but they are sooo expensive, now that I have this one under my belt I know that I will be making many more. The only thing that I bought for this project was the fabric which totaled $7.48 and since I only used a small amount of it, I figure it cost  me about $1.50 or so. I had the buttons, paint and pillow insert in my craft stash.
This is only the second project that I have made with my new Silhouette Cameo, my first was the Mailbox Numbers that I did a few weeks ago. The Silhouette made this pillow supper easy. I just went into the design program and found the pictures that I wanted, the key and the font ( DJ Love) I found the font for free on pinterest somewhere.

I printed my template out on paper first, I didn't want to waste my vinyl while I was messing around  with the sizing and placement.

Vinyl templet with transfer tape on top.

I arranged my templets on my fabric in different configurations
before I found the spacing and arrangement that I liked.
Vinyl Transfered on to Fabric.

After my templets were secured on the fabric
I began applying the pain to my fabric,
I used a very small about and just dabbed the paint on the fabric through the templet,
I wanted a softer look so I didn't use very much paint at all.

After the paint was dry I ironed it to set the paint, and sewed my pillow. I cut a strip of red burlap and sewed it across the front, than I cut a heart out of tan burlap and red felt. I sewed a red and white button onto the center of the felt heart and hot glued both hearts to the red burlap strip. I didn't include any pictures of these steps because I figured they were pretty basic. So what do you think?

The Love pillow in the background is from TJ Maxx $12.99
and the gingham heart pillow is from Ikea $9.99 both were purchased
before Christmas.
